Nice car but beware of paint flaws - 2005 Ford Five Hundred
By Karl - August 10 - 11:26 pmI love the body style and the ride is very comfortable. Great trunk space and rear leg room. Quiet cabin and controls are easily accessible. American car with a Euro look. Problem is my car came with something I didnt pay for -- A TON of PAINT FLAWS. Also have some interior fit and finish issues.

Great Value - 2005 Ford Five Hundred
By D Dixon - August 2 - 6:36 pmHave had this car for over a year now. Find it to be very comfortable and easy to drive. I get the low end for mileage, but it really does great on the highway. You can carry people in the back with great comfort and room. One problem fixed under warranty and the two safety recalls.

It was a great car - 2005 Ford Five Hundred
By txoldmf - July 31 - 3:42 amThe car never gave us to many problem. They do have problem areas, headlight socket over heat, air compressor are weak. Engine strut support break easy. The big problem is the instrument panel. A problem Ford, and the NTSA knows about. The problem is weak solder joints. Ours went out, Total cost for parts and labor 1300, A third of the value of the car.

transmission problems - 2005 Ford Five Hundred
By meetball1 - July 21 - 4:19 amI purchased my 07 FFH SEL in April of 2012 with 33,000mi on it, and I have noticed that the tranni slips when I accelerate from a complete stop, or from 1-2mph. But not all the time. Most of the time its a nice ride. I have to treat her like a baby. And now at 54,000mi they are telling me I need to replace the brakes. I just got this car less than a year ago! I had to sell my F150, because someone hit me from behind and sheered back the steal back bumper. So I got rid of it . But it was a beautiful truck, except I had to replace the transmission at around 95,000-98,000mi. on that one. I have read that ford overall has had tranni problems though. I should have known to check the FH.

Great Family Car - 2005 Ford Five Hundred
By Robert Emslie - May 8 - 1:20 pmMany reviews have dunned the 500 for the Euro-styling and adequate power. What few mention is the largest in U.S. trunk and excellent fuel economy. The 21 cubic foot trunk shames the Avalon with only 14 and the ability to get 25MPG real-world on regular grade gasoline keeps me glad I made the purchase. On the down side, I wish the nav system had been available in 05 and there is a bit of wind noise around the A-pillars.

2 Weeks into a new car - 2005 Ford Five Hundred
By tinger - April 29 - 9:40 pmI purchased a new 500 SEL a couple weeks ago becasue my 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII was totaled by a deer. Having been used to a large car, I was skeptical as to the roominess of the 500. I initially wanted a new 05 Mustang, but when I drive one I realized everything was small and tight. The 500 was huge compared to the Mustang. The only real drawback is the lack of legroom for front passengers (Im 63"). I love the CD player and the view. The frontwheel drive is a bit touchy, and the pickup is quick, but whines alot. The exterior styling is great! Everyone says it looks super. I was the first in the area to get one, and am very happy I decided to go with it. Way to go Ford!

You need to drive - 2005 Ford Five Hundred
By Randall Rankens - February 7 - 11:50 amI own a new 500, everybody who drives it or even rides in are extremely pleased with the vehicle. I did not buy the vehicle to blow people off the road or drag race anybody. I purchased the vehicle because it fits me well. I am 66" and have a family. It seats 5 adults very well, and have taken several trips with 4 adults with all the luggage and had no problems with performance. This car is perfect for my real estate business, and the AWD in Colorado is perfect. Yes I could have purchased a car with more horsepower etc, but why? The 500 has no problem maintaining all the posted speed limits, even 75. I did rent the new Chrysler 300, drove it over 2,500 miles and hated it.

GRAY HAIR/BIG CAR - 2005 Ford Five Hundred
By tom - February 6 - 7:13 amI like my 500 but it is definitely underpowered...not sure if the CVT is the culprit for the lack of power. I would like to see an SRT version of the 500 for us Boomers that like to be respectable, comfortable, and civilized but want the "extra" under the hood that we can set free on those all too rare occasions.

Good after 12,000 miles - 2005 Ford Five Hundred
By rtboch - July 6 - 9:46 pmI have driven the 500 for about 8 months and have about 12,000 miles on it. So far its all good. The AWD worked great in the snow, the ride is good and the interior is excellent. No rattles or problems at all. It has all the advantages of a luxury car. I looked very seriously at the some high end caddies and BMWs and am very pleased I did better with my 500.
